NPFL: Enyimba falls in Port-Harcourt

A second half free kick goal by Frederick Obomate was all Rivers United needed to shot down champions Enyimba at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Stocky midfielder Obomate conjured a magical free kick in the 65th minute beyond goalkeeper Femi Thomas for what will prove the match winner.
This loss had extended the losing streak of ‘The People’s Elephant’ after the club lost a CAF Champions League tie at Uganda’s SC Vipers and they fell to Cup holders Akwa United in the season-opening Charity Shield in midweek.
Rivers United, formerly Dolphins, barely survived relegation last season.
Newly promoted MFM FC got off to a winning start in the Nigeria premier league after they defeated home team Nasarawa United 2-1 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, former Sunshine Stars striker Musa Newman shot MFM in front after 18 minutes.
The visitors doubled their lead on 33 minutes through Chukwuka Emmanuel Ifeanyi Nweke pulled a goal back for Nasarawa in the 75th minute, but the home team could not muster enough to at least get a share of the spoils on the day.
