We brought hope back to the people -Tinubu

THE Sun Man of the year and National leader of All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday recounted the many political struggles that culminated in the change of government last year and brought the APC to power.
Tinubu who spoke after being presented with the award said the power was made possible through the commitment of members of the party.
He expressed joy that most of the titans who formed the nucleus of the APC during the struggle were on hand to witness the award presentation.
He specifically mentioned the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and his predecessor, Chief Bisi Akande.
Tinubu said, “They brought back hope to the people and the desired change.” Going down memory lane, Tinubu regretted the huge decline the country witnessed in the last 25 years, “and particularly between 2011 and 2015.”
He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, adding that with “understanding determination, perseverance we keep the hope alive.”
The former Lagos state governor dedicated the award to all democrats.
Earlier while presenting the award to Tinubu, the Chairman/Publisher of The Sun, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu recalled his political exploits that crystallized in the restoration of democracy in Nigeria in 1999.
Kalu said, “He fought for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria. In league with other democrats they were criss-crossing major cities of the world fighting to restore democracy we are enjoying today.
The Sun publisher described the AC national leader as a master strategist and lover of democracy.
An elated Tinubu, danced for some minutes before the award was presented to him.
He described Kalu as his brother, friend and also a dogged fighter. He also descibed him as an industrialist par excellence and emploer of labour.
