A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has said that the ‘unwarranted’ criticism of President Mohammadu Buhari by Governor Ayodele Fayose will only make the party to be stronger ahead of 2019 polls rather than deplete it.
He also hailed the Abuja expanded reconciliation meeting, where all interested Ekiti stalwarts resolved to subsume their groups into APC and pay total loyalty to the party
In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Osinkolu wondered why Governor Fayose had consistently attacked the Buhari administration rather than placing his attentions on how to better the lot of the people of Ekiti, who voted for him for second term.
He expressed optimism that the coming together of political gladiators like former Governor Niyi Adebayo, minister of solid minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, special adviser to the President on political matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu among others, would help the party in future elections in Ekiti and Nigeria at large.
“I have had encounters with so many Ekiti workers, who said Ekiti didn’t need all this and complained that the governor would have better thought of how to pay salaries than to be attacking Mr President just for attention-seeking venture”, he said.
“Having enjoyed the favour of God, I expected him to bury his head so low, so that he won’t end disastrously the way he did in 2006. But we have a governor who didn’t learn from history. He started in 2005 by attacking all the leaders, abusing traditional rulers and the same perilous path he is toeing now.
“Fayose is fighting so many battles in PDP as well as busy attacking President Buhari.” A man he ought to embrace to bring development to Ekiti and make his reign peaceful. Even last week, he went and personally tore the billboard of Olukere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin in a daylight .
“These showed that we have a governor who will never learn from history. A governor who is arrogant with power and I foresee that he may end up being consumed by the grave he dug by himself like it happened in 2006”, Osinkolu warned
