NIGERIA Football Federation (NFF) has issued what could pass for final warning to Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh. The soccer ruling body stated yesterday that Oliseh must desist from his unwarranted statements unbecoming of a national team coach in both regular and social media .
In a communique by the executive committee of the NFF signed by Vice president, Seyi Akinwunmi, the committee made it clear that such infractions from Oliseh, would not be tolerated in the future.
While acknowledging his apology, the committee which sat on Tuesday February 16 2016 in Abuja, resolved that henceforth , the senior national team gaffer will defend his call-ups and training programmes before the technical committee.
“In line with global best practices, the committee decided that coach Oliseh must henceforth report to the NFF general secretary and the technical and development committee, and should be ready to defend his entire programme before the committee, including invitation of players and training programmes,” said the official statement.
The committee in a dramatic reversal of decisions, rewarded Emmanuel Amuneke for leading Nigeria to her fifth U-17 World Cup glory by elevating him to chief coach of the national U-20 team (Flying Eagles).
Amuneke’s promotion to the U-20 cadre , recommended by the Technical and Development Committee, was embraced and endorsed by the committee. He is to be assisted by Kabiru Baleria and Emeka Amadi. The committee went a step further, to relieve ex-international Tijani Babangida of his duty as the personal assistant to Sunday Oliseh.
Meanwhile, the trio of Florence Omagbemi, Perpetua Nkwocha, and Ann Chiejine have been drafted to the senior national women’s team, Super Falcons with Bala Mohammed as the goalkeeper trainer.
Omagbemi, has been mandated to head the crew pending the appointment of a competent expatriate coach as recommended by the Technical and Development Committee of the NFF.
