A woman, identified as Bose Adebayo, has been arrested by Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stamping her grandchild, Tope Oke, with a hot pot for eating a bowl of rice without her consent.
Adebayo, it was gathered, had brought some cooked rice from a party which she reserved in the house while the hungry grandchild took part of it.
The development, it was further gathered, angered the grandmother who tied down and beat the young girl black and blue.
It was gathered that the victim, an eight year old primary two pupil of St James Primary School in Ijeun Titun area of Abeokuta, was later inflicted with injuries using a hot pot.
Oke was quickly rushed to a hospital in Ijaye where, it was reported, doctors battled to save the life of the little chap.
An eyewitness confirmed that that the angry grandmother tied the girl before inflicting her with injuries.
Neighbours at Oloronbo community in Ijeun Titun where the ugly incident happened, alerted the police and other non-governmental organisations before the woman was arrested.
When our correspondent visited Ibara Police Station where the suspect was being detained, the case-file was being prepared to be transferred to Anti-Human Trafficking Department of Nigeria Police.
The Special Adviser to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on women affairs, Ms Nike Osoba and the Senior Social Welfare Officer of the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Wonuola Kassim, were on hand to monitor the situation.
Osoba while speaking with journalists described the action as crude and inhuman adding that the law will take its course.
